Hi Heather, welcome from the Gold Coast, Australia. I’m making my first Quilt As You Go quilt, I’ve finished the blocks and understand how to put them together with the sashing, but would like batting behind the sashing and wonder, do you cut the batting larger than the block, or do you add it as an extra when joining the sashing on. Thank you in advance.

I made a Crown Royal quilt top and was told it would ravel. What would you suggest at this point I should do to keep it from fraying before I quilt it?

A quilt shop gift certificate would be the best Mothers Day gift.

I have pieced a necktie quilt which will only be hung never used on a bed. Should I use a heavy batting? Any suggestions on brand and weights?

Should u always use cotton thread when sewing with cotton material or can you use polyester thread?

I'm 70 and like the other caller, I have a quilt that has been handed down through 5 generations. It was quilted in the mid-to late 1800's. I know all their names, including the grandmother that quilted it. How do I make sure my descendants know this? Do I label? I'm leary of doing that but can't think of another way.

Would you stitch in the ditch on a log cabin quilt or free design quilt?

What is your opinion of using store bought bias tape for binding. And is there any time this is a good option.
