They can be made in a variety of sizes so that this fun embellishment can be used in a variety of ways to add dimension and texture to a table runner, wall hanging or whatever your imagination can inspire. You will see a hands-on demonstration with tips and tricks for creating these circular shapes with surprising accuracy.

We demonstrate how to determine the finished size and in turn how to cut the correct size circles for making the yo-yo. When using the specialized tool the yo-yo making process can be a fun take-along project perfect for lap work while waiting in the carpool line or sitting at the airport on a layover. You will see how a variety of prints and stripe fabric adds a great deal of motion and interest when used for the yo-yo shape.

We also cover the things to consider when selecting the perfect fabrics to be used in your yo-yo creation. Lastly, you will learn about a “heart-shaped” yo-yo maker that is a variation of the circular tool. The stitching process is similar with just a couple of extra steps. This shape can be used as a heart, a leaf or flower petal. The arrangement of the yo-yo can be very simple or they can be grouped for a more intricate design.
