Week 1 of the National Quilters Circle Mystery Quilt Block Challenge! was a great success – we loved seeing all the beautiful color combinations you all have chosen! It’s now time for our second week reveal! Now that we’ve finished the center medallion, we are starting on the main quilt blocks! We will be making 8 of block 1 this week, so get ready!

I’m finding this confusing. Above says “Week 2” – this is actually the 3rd installment/clue. And the pattern page says “Block 1”. I thought the first clue was block 1. Becky, I’m looking at my page 3 and page 4 and they are not the same. Arlene does need page 4; it is the outer portion of the center Medallion. From her description, she has the fabric requirements file, but not the week 1 file w/ page 3 (a repeat of page 3 in the fabric requirements file) and page 4 which completes the medallion.

I decided to make the smaller option of this quilt and bought the lesser amount of fabric. In reading the directions, I don’t see an option to make the pieces smaller to accommodate that choice. Am I overlooking something? I’m afraid if I go by these directions I’ll run out of fabric.

The cutting and piecing instructions for both sizes of quilt are the same for the first few weeks. When a difference is needed to the smaller size it will be clearly noted in the pattern.
