Block 7

We may be nearing the end of the National Quilters Circle Quilt Block Challenge (can you believe it?), but we’re not slowing down! Let’s start working on our seventh block: The Taygeta Star!

For this challenge, we are creating the beautiful Pleiades quilt pattern, designed by the talented Gina Perkes of The Copper Needle.

Looking for fabric requirements? Find them here! You can also find a coloring sheet for this block here.

The finished quilt size is 66 by 66 inches. Click the button below to download a PDF with instructions for your third block. And make sure to share your progress in the Quilt Block Challenge Facebook Group – we can’t wait to see everyone’s work!

The only way I could get to this page was by clicking on the link in the e-mail. How could you get to it from NQC home page?

Would like to use the monochromatic quilt versions for these blocks but not finding block versions for Celaeno Star and Merope Star. Are these blocks available for download; if so, where can I find? Thank you.

Block 7 is the current block, if you scroll up to the blue box that says download pattern and click on that you will be able to download the pattern. Next week the list of block links will look similar but with block 8 being the “inactive link” and block 7 clickable.

I think it would help on page 1 if the picture of the block along side the colors would have the corresponding letters on them. I’m sometimes not sure which is background and which is a color. For example on the Atlas Star, in the picture of the block you can’t tell which is background and which is fabric E. They are both grey in the picture. Or don’t use grey twice, use a beige for the color in the picture. It is a complicated block already and less confusion would be great. Thanks.

I want to learn to quilt. Do you think a beginner can make this square? My mom quilted and gave me several quilts. Thus began a fascination for quilting.

I have had no problem downloading Blocks 1-5 but am unable to download Blocks 6 and 7 in either the color or monochromatic. Are there monochromatic downloads for blocks 1 and 2?

I wanted to do monocromatic… is there a way to have a layout like the colored ones are? MY BRAIN can’t choose colors let alone TRY to figure out which COLOR would change to WHICH mono. 😃 totally true story… but if someone could lend a hand… I would me MOST GRATEFUL!!

I would like to be able to print the monochromatic layouts for blocks 1 and 2. I have decided I would like to have them for future quilting possibilities….when I get time from the rest of my sewing/quilting projects that I have going now. Thank you for your help!

I have never made a quilt of this difficulty, so this is going to be a real challenge. I am scared and excited with it. Thank you for this opportunity to stretch myself.

Hi. I can not open the link for Block 7 from my email. The previous 6 were okay. If it makes a difference the first 6 are blue and number 7 is black.
    Cheers Raylene
